The Opportunity
The Human Resources team works collaboratively to provide a wide range of HR services and support to Moore Foundation staff. We are in search of a Human Resources Specialist to join our 5-person team, playing a key role in the payroll, benefits and other operational functions, and working closely with the HR Director and HR Managers.
This is a non-exempt position that requires an individual that is resourceful and can work autonomously, take initiative, anticipate needs and demonstrate excellent follow through with accuracy. The candidate must exhibit exceptional attention to detail and timeliness. The candidate must also be a team player, be able to successfully manage complex deliverables and be skilled at managing multiple priorities. As a member of the HR team, the Human Resources Specialist must demonstrate the ability to work with confidential and sensitive information and exhibit a high degree of discretion.
This position is based at our main office in Palo Alto, CA. Under the foundation’s residency policy and hybrid work arrangements, you must reside within a reasonable driving distance of the foundation’s Palo Alto office, and you will be expected to work onsite a minimum of 1-2 days a week, the weeks of our May and November board meetings, and on periodic occasions throughout the year when foundation business needs require.
In This Role You Will:
- Be responsible for full-cycle payroll processing, which includes gathering, calculating and inputting data.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations; along with internal policies that affect payroll processing.
- Assist Human Resources Manager in managing employee leave of absences.
- Manage all HR and employee files in accordance with foundation policies.
- Provide day to day support for benefits administration working with benefit broker and carriers to assist team members with any benefit related issues.
- Assist Human Resources Manager in organizing and executing open enrollment process.
- Oversee the onboarding process for new staff.
- Actively assist in planning and logistical oversight for internal foundation-wide events.
- Responsible for tracking training needs and coordinating in-house training opportunities.
- Provide a wide range of administrative support to the HR team, including assistance with logistics associated with scheduling and planning meetings, presentations, and training sessions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
- Represent the team and the foundation in interactions and events in support of employee engagement efforts.
- Participate in the development and implementation of department goals, objectives and systems.
- Assist with various projects as needed.
What You Bring to the Foundation:
Qualifications
- University degree (B.S., B.A., etc.) preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of payroll and benefits administration required. 3 years of experience supporting HR team and additional relevant knowledge of HR strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in technical systems and programs, including an intermediate level of experience in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Hands on work experience with an HRIS required. Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred.

The Moore Foundation provides a generous total compensation package that includes a competitive salary and wide range of benefits to support your life, health, and well-being.
The salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $120,000 per year. Our job titles and salary ranges may span more than one career level, and the salary offered to a candidate will be determined based on factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, job related knowledge and skill set, depth of experience, certifications and/or degrees, and our practice of upholding salary equity within the foundation.
