SUMMARY

The Development Director is responsible for the agency’s overall comprehensive fundraising program. Primary focus areas are major gifts; foundation, corporate and annual giving – both in terms of outright monetary support and in-kind giving; and oversight of the Colorado Gives 365 campaign, the Combined Federal Campaign, the Colorado Combined Campaign, and third-party events. The Development Director collaborates with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to ensure that the annual fundraising goals are successfully met. The responsibilities of the Development Director include but are not limited to the following.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Develops and ensures implementation of an annual strategic plan raising $1.8M (projected FY25 and subject to change) for Department.

· Develops and implements an annual fund development plan including monthly cash flow projections.

· Oversees and monitors progress against goals and creates strategies to address potential shortfalls.

· Refines and manages annual foundation, corporate and individual donor cultivation plans to include tracking donor contact, donor analysis, research, cultivation, solicitation and closing.

· Writes and submits all grant proposals.

· Supervises the agency’s Community Philanthropy Manager as well as efforts his or her in this arena related to Raiser’s Edge database maintenance, donor analysis, the donor acknowledgement process and volunteer management.

· Oversees day-to-day fundraising operations for Development Department.

· Acts as a representative of Denver Children’s Home for development related internal and external activities.

· Manages the Resource Development Committee of the Board of Directors, providing guidance and support.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s degree required.

· A minimum of five years in a leadership role is required (flexible based on other learned experiences).

· Proven fundraising track record is required.

· Raiser’s Edge knowledge and experience or ability to learn and adapt based on other CRM database experience.

· Understanding of Federal and State tax codes and acknowledgment/receipting in relation to outright (cash) gifts, appreciated asset gifts including cryptocurrency, gifts from Donor Advised Funds and Qualified Charitable Distributions from IRAs, as well as in-kind contributions.

· Understanding of the Colorado funding community is strongly preferred.

· Experience in capital campaign planning and implementation is desirable.

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and with co-workers/volunteers or in group settings.

· Demonstrated affinity with interpersonal, telephone and written communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES

· Ability to pass background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

· Ability to gain clearance through the Colorado Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect (TRAILS).

· Elevated level of self-motivation and ability to work independently and with a team.

· Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail among applicant’s interpersonal and professional skills.

· Strong written and oral communication skills. The applicant’s cover letter will serve as a writing sample for initial screening purposes.

· Ability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneously; while prioritizing each.

· Able to manage oneself appropriately in a stressful environment.

· Conflict resolution skills

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) and the Internet and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).

· Cultural awareness and sensitivity.

· Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and therapeutic boundaries.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

· Requireswalking, standing, sitting, climbing of stairs, fine hand or finger movement, detailed sight and hearing, written and verbal communication.

· Requires use of office equipment requiring repetitive wrist/hand movement and vision.

· Ability to routinely perform light lifting of 1-20 lbs.

· Occasionally pushes or pulls objects up to 40 lbs.

· Occasional bending or stooping and reaching above shoulder level.

· Occasional driving automatic equipment/vehicles.

· May experience temperature fluctuations, from heat to cold due to environment changes of the Home and the need to work outdoors at times.

· Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical substances or controlled substances.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
