Job Description

This position supports Women's Pelvic Medicine Clinic under the supervision of Nursing Supervisors. This position provides direct patient care to women in the women's pelvic medicine clinic, including GYN procedures, urology procedures and phone triage. This position works independently performing GYN and urology services and also works with a team of physicians, fellow, residents and nurse practitioners in an academic medical outpatient setting. This position also provides direct patient support to the several physicians and fellows providing highly specialized gynecologic care to patients at every age, including procedures requiring moderate sedation in an outpatient procedure setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for procedures by conducting pre-procedure assessments, verifying medical history, and obtaining informed consent.
- Administer moderate sedation and closely monitor patient responses, vital signs, and comfort levels during procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure procedural efficiency and patient safety.
- Provide post-procedure recovery care, including patient monitoring and education on discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and procedural activities in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and infection control standards during all procedures.
- Participate in staff education, quality improvement initiatives, and adherence to evidence-based practices.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, utilizing critical thinking and advanced life support techniques.
Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
RN License issued by the State of California.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get ART w/in 6 months of hire date.
Minimum one (1) year of recent RN experience in Women's Health or Procedural Sedation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Electronic Medical Record Systems.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.
Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal andcommunication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions andevaluate results.
Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff,physicians, patients and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
- BSN.
- Recent Women's Health outpatient/ambulatory RN experience.
- Two (2+) or more years of RN experience in Women's Health supporting patients during procedures.
- One (1+) or more years of infertility experience.
- Previous experience providing and willingness to perform and provide all gynecologic procedures and clinical services.
- Experience with Epic.
- Experience with Prior Authorization Submission.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $180,716 - $180,716 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $86.55 - $86.55
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
