The Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area (DSCBA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in 1998 with the mission to empower, inspire, and support people with Down syndrome, their families, and the community that serves them, while fostering awareness and acceptance in all areas of life. The DSCBA’s annual budget of $1,300,000 is funded nearly entirely through individual donations and private foundation grants, including approximately two dozen regular funders that require grant management.
The DSCBA is looking to hire a new team member with the following Grant writing skills and experience: Friendly, passionate, and enthusiastic individual with grant writing skills and grant management experience, strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Recommended Grant Writer/Manager Qualifications: The following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
· Minimum of two years’ experience in fund development for a nonprofit organization OR two years’ experience writing and submitting grant proposals
· Strong writing and communication skills
· Ability to understand and synthesize information from program staff, documents, and data into succinct yet thorough and persuasive grant proposals to funders
· Ability to work under tight deadlines
· Well organized and able to coordinate needed information well ahead of proposal and report deadlines
· Attention to detail and ability to carefully and thoroughly follow instructions
· Professional demeaner and ability to interact well with funders and staff
· Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Microsoft 365, Salesforce or other database, and Adobe Acrobat
· A strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into written form.
· Exceptional communication skills, ability to present and express ideas and information effectively.
· Experience developing and maintaining cooperative, collaborative relationships within an organization and outside partners.
· Experience working within the nonprofit disability community is a plus.
DSCBA Grant Writer/Manager – Compensation:
- $35.00 per hour, or more based upon experience.
- Starting part-time or Contractor hours, 20-25 hours per week, future full-time hours may be available.
- Work from beautiful Danville, CA location
- Hybrid: In-office and virtual hours, with work-from-home possibilities after fully trained.
- Employment is subject to a background check.
DSCBA Grant Writer/Manager responsibilities include*:
Grant Management, Administrative Support, Grant Reporting, Community Engagement, and Office/Organization Collaboration.
· Write, revise, and submit grant proposals and letters of inquiry to current and prospective private and corporate foundations (approximately 4 proposals per month)
· Write, revise, and submit grant reports to current funders (approximately 2 reports per month)
· Research potential new grantors using Foundation Directory Online (Candid) and other sources
· Manage yearly calendar of grant application and reporting deadlines
· Assist with developing program budgets for grant applications
· Maintain grant submission and award information using Salesforce
Create and share a monthly Grant report.
This is an in-person/in-office position, located in Danville, CA.
