Job Description

Job Title

Senior Research Contracts Program Manager (Hybrid or Remote Possible)

Job Description

Come grow with us! During the 2024 fiscal year, researchers at the University of Notre Dame submitted 1,310 proposals for external research funding for a total amount of $1.016 billion — the first time the University has surpassed the billion-dollar mark for proposals. In addition, the University received 829 separate awards — the largest number on record. With $223 million in total funding, these awards propelled the University past the $200 million mark for the fourth straight year. To support this immense growth, Notre Dame Research is recruiting talented research administration professionals to enhance the team that will steward our research enterprise into its next phase.

Notre Dame Research Administration and Compliance seeks an energetic professional to work as a Senior Research Contracts Program Manager (SRCPM). This position is perfect for someone looking to build and manage a diverse portfolio of research contracting experiences, including federal, foundation, and industry sponsors. The SRCPM will have a wide range of technical responsibilities and will gain exposure to researchers from many disciplines and other stakeholders across campus.

We want talented Research Contracts professionals like you to join us in continuing our endeavor to do good in the world. With Notre Dame’s unique mission, growing research program, and commitment to our research professionals, we believe there is no better place for you to choose to share your talents than with our University.

The ability to work both independently and within a team is critical for success in the SRCPM role. While we are looking for someone who enjoys contract work, we are searching for those who also enjoy learning new things and will find unique ways to share their talents with the organization. NDR nurtures professional growth through internal and external training and participation in professional organizations.

The Research Contracts team manages the receipt, review, approval, and establishment of all sponsored program awards within Notre Dame’s portfolio. The key responsibilities of the SRCPM include:

  • Proficiently review, negotiate, and accept agreements related to research (collaborative research agreements, MOUs, material transfer agreements, non-disclosure agreements, etc.)
  • Establish and negotiate sub-awards with sub-recipients of all types and research consulting agreements.
  • Proficiently draft and execute customized agreements for non-standard situations, such as Industry Master Sponsored Research Agreements (MSRA) and Industrial Testing Agreements.
  • Support University compliance requirements such as IRB, export control, sub-recipient monitoring, FFATA, and technical and intellectual property reporting requirements.
  • Maintain information and documentation in our electronic research administration systems and interface with Grants Program Management (GPM) staff for financial and programmatic award management.

Notre Dame Research is committed to creating a community that fosters equity of experience and opportunity and ensures that members of all backgrounds feel safe, welcome, and included. We strive to achieve a culture of openness, autonomy, and belonging; making Notre Dame an exceptional place for our team, partners, and collaborators to flourish.
