The ideal candidate will be committed to getting results in a fast-paced environment, able to handle a substantial and varied workload, and keep track of detailed information. This position is an opportunity to lead projects, collaborating with a team that engages with policy makers, state and local leaders, and housing and service providers to build capacity, develop the workforce, strengthen partnerships, and create innovative programs to end homelessness.

Primary Responsibilities

The Project Specialist reports to a Project Director and is responsible for the following:

  • Accomplish goals outlined in individual work plan
  • Design trainings, develop training modules, and support the delivery of remote and on-site training
  • Provide coaching and technical assistance to a wide variety of stakeholders; translate Department of Housing and Urban Development and Social Security Administration rules and regulations to community stakeholders
  • Collect and evaluate information and data about best practices, evidence-based interventions, and project and system performance
  • Create and disseminate educational materials in various formats
  • Assist in the cultivation of relationships and coalition building with NCCEH partners

Essential Knowledge

  • Knowledge and practical understanding of the homelessness field, interpersonal violence sector, or related fields
  • Experience working in or with a direct service organization or role responsible for administering or supporting a social service program, especially:

· in the homeless and/or interpersonal violence sector or

· as a person with lived experience of homelessness

  • Demonstrated system thinking ability or skill to perform problem solving in complex systems
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills to create consensus with an orientation towards action
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office, Google Suite, and project management software such as Smartsheet

Hiring Range: $55,000 – $60,000

Work Plan:

NCCEH serves as the State Lead for the NC SOAR Program and the Collaborative Applicant for the NC Balance of State Continuum of Care (NC BoS CoC), a collaboration of seventy-nine counties.

· Provide strategic leadership of the North Carolina SOAR program

· Assist local communities and state agencies to develop and implement strategies for funding SOAR providers and implementing SOAR technology

· Collect and monitor outcome data from SOAR providers, reporting monthly and annual data for reimbursement from the NC DHHS and using data to drive improvement

· Improve collaborative relationships with Disability Determination Services and Social Security Administration at the state and local level

· Provide technical assistance through regular phone calls, video calls, and face-to-face meetings with SOAR trained providers

· Coordinate and lead SOAR provider trainings, SOAR Dialogue Group, SOAR Advisory Board, and SOAR Annual Meeting

· Lead and support special projects, as assigned, in the NC Balance of State Continuum of Care

This position involves sedentary work that primarily entails sitting and standing. The position requires occasional travel across the state of North Carolina.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
