Position Summary:
The Director of Recruitment and Retention is a collaborative leader, working with faculty and staff to support students along their journey toward completion. The director will work diligently in a team-oriented, professional, student-centric environment to provide exceptional student services and meet enrollment goals while embracing the mission and values of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
Required Education/Experience:
- Master’s degree
- Minimum five (5) years work experience in progressively responsible leadership and supervisory roles in higher education
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:
- Experience working with community college populations is preferred

Duty and Responsibility:
Provide college-wide coordination, oversight, and vision for a wide range of services, including recruitment/outreach, orientation programing and new student onboarding, first-year experience activities, career and academic advising, dual enrollment via the Career & College Promise program, and college-wide retention efforts.
Duty and Responsibility:
Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive, proactive, college-wide retention programming to enhance success, awareness, persistence, and program completion for diverse student populations (i.e. early alert, progress reports, etc.)
Duty and Responsibility:
Provide career and academic advising and follow-up services to new and returning students, including case management to assist students through a guided pathway experience that aligns with their life and career goals.

Develop, maintain, and enhance college-wide partnerships between and among student services staff, faculty, instructional staff, and administration.

Develop strategies/activites for:
- Retaining students by obtaining data and proactively reaching out to students to help keep them engaged.
- Promoting student engagement to target improving academic performance, program completion, college transfer and advising services.

Collaborate with deans and program managers to develop and monitor the College’s enrollment management plan; including evaluating course enrollment trends, providing input to institutional enrollment management efforts, and collaborating with the Department of Institutional Effectiveness to ensure accurate reporting.

Provide support and leadership for both on-campus and online new student orientation options.

Communicate regularly and effectively with faculty and staff throughout the College to remain knowledgeable about programs and services and acts as a liaison with academic programs and services.

Develop and implement a comprehensive short and long-term student success plan to improve completion rates. Conduct regular assessments of progress towards student-success objectives and report results

Oversee the College’s dual enrollment program, Career & College Promise, with the goal of improving matriculation and collaboration with local high schools.

Establish and maintain effective communication with prospective students through marketing, communications and recruiting strategies.

Develop and execute a recruiting plan and strategy for the College, including sophisticated recruiting and enrollment plans that vary by program to ensure enrollment targets

Work with marketing to develop and implement plans and strategies for a variety of communications channels, including but not limited to social media, digital and traditional advertising, the website, newsletters, success stories, press materials, brochures, email campaigns, fact sheets, and videos that are used in marketing to attract prospective students

Establish and maintain strong connections with local school counselors and teachers.

Collaborate with the Division of Information Technology Services and the marketing team to ensure website traffic and functionality can be tracked, monitored and optimized for prospective student engagement. Consistently collaborates with IT to increase use and efficiency of technology in fostering student success.

Maintain the master recruitment schedule with all scheduled recruitment events on an ongoing basis.
